Arabic Online Markets: Open Sesame!

Arabic Online Markets: Open Sesame!!

As you might know from having visited MSEO.com, we have a fully staffed office in Hazmieh (Beirut), Lebanon. Our Lebanese team is in charge of the development for all of our Arabic SEO campaigns. Over the years of working with such a talented team of multilingual professionals (most of them speak English/French fluently as well), I have learned a lot about the “Arabic online world”.

Our Arabic SEO branch is extremely active within the Arabic IT communities. They exhibit this year at the GITEX 08 in Dubai, promoting our World Tour Seminars (I happen to be the speaker at those events/SEO workshops). Our next four events, in November 2008 and January 2009, will be held in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Qatar, and Bahrain. I am not writing this in an effort to promote our SEO Seminars, but rather wishing to bring your attention to our targeted destinations: Gulf countries only. What’s going on with such geo-targeted marketing effort?

Well, over the past years, I have developed a personal friendship with Mr. Nadim Sarkis, who happens to be the Director of our branch in Beirut. Aside from being one of the utmost qualified professionals I have ever met in our line of industry, Nadim has truly introduced me to the Arabic online world: an online platform way too often misperceived by the rest of the world.

Getting involved with Arabic Search Engine Optimization has been a fruitful strategic move for MSEO.com (please visit the Arabic version of our website by clicking on the following link: http://www.mseo.com/ar ). It has also allowed me on a personal level to be introduced to a wealthy, educated, and courteous online platform! When covering all cultural and technical ramifications involved, marketing a website to the Arab online community often turns out to be the most profitable Global SEO action of all!

In September 2007, while visiting the GITEX in Dubai, I went on a helicopter ride to see what is, by far, the most incredible and unprecedented real estate development ever conceived by mankind. Like many, you might have seen various documentaries on Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and other Gulf “urban hotspots”. Anyway, my helicopter pilot conveyed the fact that over 60% of all the construction cranes in the world were present in Dubai (I confirmed such fact by researching on the internet). Perhaps you knew that already, but think about it this way: We are talking about the wealthiest group of individuals in the world who happen to depend almost 100% on imports…imports of goods…imports of services…but also imports of talent, technology, etc.

Arabic online search engines have greatly matured over the years, building the strongest and most efficient communication with the Arab online community. Of course, when starting to interact with Arab online business professionals, cultural ramifications need to be respected. I advise you to do a little research concerning business etiquette and other cultural “do’s and don’ts” when presenting your products and/or services on Arabic search engines. Most of all users who will find the Arabic version of your website will have the ability to communicate with you in English. However, when communicating with someone in Kuwait or Saudi Arabia, it is not “Hi, how’re you doing?” - The average casual American approach will not be welcome! Once again, the Arab online community is financially opulent and features a group of respectful and educated businessmen.

However, the Arabic online world is much more than the Gulf Region. It is the full MENA deal and more (MENA = Middle East & North Africa). From Egypt to Morocco, from Jordan to Lebanon, without forgetting the millions of Arabic native speakers elsewhere around the world, Arabic is by far an online platform I would recommend to anyone ready for a financially rewarding ride!!

Aside from business, when traveling through the Arab world, you will eat better – I mean, MUCH better – than in any country where English is the native tongue (and, no, I did not refer to the U.S. or the U.K. … maybe I should not think so loud!). Okay! Better food, but also superior hospitality. We are speaking about the Orient and Oriental hospitality is definitely one notch above what we experience in the Western world.

Anyway, since I am at the stage of expressing my appreciation for such a sophisticated community, I will take this opportunity to conclude with the following statement: Our Lebanese people were the best we could find in the Arab world and, on a personal note, I will say that Lebanon also offers the best food of the Arab world. Honestly, the Lebanese rule in the kitchen…there is nothing like eating out in Beirut! I do realize that I should apologize for getting distracted from the Arabic SEO subject, but I just cannot think of my team in Lebanon without associating business with pleasure!!

Using Free Dating Services Online

Rebecca Walker asked:

Online dating services are becoming increasingly popular among those that are looking to find friends, and maybe even more if the time is right and they meet the right person. Many people find the thought of being set up on blind dates, and the pressure of dating somewhat forced and unnatural. With online dating, much of the uncomfortable elements are removed. Not only do you get a chance to speak with your date first, you also get to see if it is likely you will make a connection – this removes any need for spending an evening together when you can tell you are not going to get on within the first 15 minutes.

Online dating services are also great because of the added security and anonymity that they offer. In the online world you will need to exchange telephone numbers, tell your date where you work and live, and loads of other personal details from the outset. With free dating services online, much of the need for specifics is removed, rendering it possible to share the information that you would like to and leaving out the information that would it make it possible for the wrong person to be able to contact and harass you if they would like to.

Online dating allows you to look at a profile picture of any potential dates before you enter into conversation and things go further. Because everyone has their own personal preferences surrounding how they choose dates it is ideal to have this iteration online; letting someone down is not difficult when you are online because you never have to respond to their correspondence in the first place.

In the offline world many people are limited to who they can meet. Apart from friends of friends, and co-workers, meeting others can be very difficult – especially as you get older and your social groups become more limited as your friends get married and have more strenuous work commitments. With online dating you open up a whole world of opportunities to meet new people who are in exactly the same position as you are. Not only that, but the sheer volume of people at online dating sites means you are far more likely to meet a person who is an exact match to you and your personality.

Everyone dreams their whole life of meeting a person who is perfectly suited to them, and what better way to do it than through an online dating service? With such a myriad of opportunities, and the ability to make friends in the process, there really is no reason not to give it a try. You can also save money too! With free dating services available, you do not have to waste money on pointless dates, or spend money on your credit card just to meet people in the first place. Why not sign up to a free dating service online today and see if you can meet the person of your dreams?

Why People Fail in Online Business

Posted by kirilesko On November - 24 - 2008 Comments Off
Andre Thunestvedt asked:

It’s no secret that 44% of new businesses in the real world close their doors within the first two years of opening them. In the first four years, 66% of small businesses fail. In the online world, the numbers are worse. Everything is faster on the internet and that includes the deterioration of new businesses. 95% of online businesses fail and they fail in a matter of months.

Disheartening? It doesn’t have to be. You can learn from other people’s mistakes. Other people’s successes in the online world drove you to want to start your online business. Their failures can help you.

Who wouldn’t prefer to avoid rush hour traffic in the morning on the way to the office and in the evening on the way home from the office? And everybody hates their boss. Even if you like your boss, you prefer not to have a boss at all. That’s the allure of the internet. Making money in your pajamas and answering to yourself.

It’s also one of the biggest reasons people fail in online business. They have to answer to themselves. When you first venture into being your own boss, it’s extremely tempting to slack off on your work hours. It’s even more tempting if you work from home. You have the television, video games, the refrigerator, the children and the spouse all to distract you. Being your own boss takes more discipline than having a job where you take orders from someone else. The lack of discipline in most online business owners causes them to relax their efforts ten times more than they would if they had a boss to answer to. The reality is that in some aspects, being your own boss can be more demanding than a job. Your businesses success and failure hinges on how much work you put into it.

Many online businesses fail because the owners dive into the venture with the wrong mindset. They try to take brick-and-mortar concepts and apply them to the internet. The internet is a different monster than a brick-and-mortar retail shop. With a brick-and-mortar retail shop, you start with a great location and you build a beautiful store, a little advertising and the customers come. Online business owners put all kinds of money into building beautiful websites and then sit back and wait for the business to come to them.

It doesn’t work like the late night infomercials tell you that it does. That brick-and-mortar retail store competes with only the other four or five retail stores in that plaza. You build your beautiful site and it competes with millions of other websites. Now, how are people supposed to find your needle in that haystack? Search engine optimization would be a good start. Create a site that the search engines love. Hopefully, your site shows up at the top of the search engine results (this is prime real estate on the internet). But in order to do that, you have to plan accordingly.

Lack of planning kills any business. It’s extremely detrimental to internet businesses. For an internet business to succeed, there has to a comprehensive plan that includes website design, the focus of your business, marketing strategies, fulfillment strategies, and strategies to handle customer complaints. Most new internet businesses have no focus. The owner just knows that he wants to start a business online. He has some idea in his head that he wants to sell video games, for example. Unfortunately, he has not created a plan to differentiate himself from the other million and one websites that sell video games. He becomes a speck in the dust.

In order to properly plan, the online business owner has to have knowledge of every aspect of his business, marketing strategies others in the field are employing with success, and the knowledge of internet marketing. Most online businesses fail because the owner jumps into the business powered by his dreams of financial success or freedom from a traditional job. They fail to take the time to learn the intricacies and strategies of internet marketing and what it takes to succeed in an online business.

An online business needs three factors in order to achieve success. The business has to generate traffic, keep constant contact with customer and close the sale. Even brick-and-mortar businesses can’t survive if they have no customers. Online businesses are the same way. If no one visits your website, then you can’t make any money. Many new online business owners, their first time starting a business online, expect that simply having their website online will generate business. It doesn’t. They’ve gone several months before realizing that they have to generate traffic on their own. By then, it’s too late for them to learn how to use internet marketing to their advantage. They’ve already spent tons of money launching the business, warehousing products, and shelling out for expenses.

Some people have the luck of hiring a website design firm who has explained to their customer that they will need site optimization, and probably offered traffic generation services. It’s great to get traffic. But you’re going to be throwing your hands up in the air in surrender when you have a thousand customers a day to your site and still aren’t making any money. That’s because you’ve failed to grab hold of this prospect and not let him walk out of the door. Online businesses have an advantage over brick-and-mortar businesses. It’s easier for an online business to capture email addresses and information about customers than it is for brick-and-mortar business. Unfortunately, some online business owners actually fail to do this. Simply capturing email addresses gives you the opportunity to invite this prospect back to your site. The job that people say they despise the most is sales jobs. Even though we are constantly selling ourselves, people are so fearful of sales. Too many business owners take this same mentality into their online business. You can’t be afraid to ask for the sale. If you never ask for the sale, how do you know if you will every get it or not?

Finally, the greatest tragedy of all online business failures is neglecting the use of the tracking capabilities of the internet. The internet is such an amazing tool for tracking and measuring statistics. It’s unbelievable how many online business owners fail to track and measure their efforts. This probably is a byproduct of improper planning. But even planning without tracking and measuring results is pointless. Because of the lack of tracking, you could end up spending more money into advertising efforts that aren’t working and less time and money on efforts that do work.

Your online business doesn’t have to fail. Educating yourself on internet marketing and operating and online business will build your self-assurance. Constructing a plan for your business will help you develop the discipline you need to keep your business moving in the right direction. Don’t allow your online business to fail when it’s so easy to get the tools to succeed.

Online Dating Tip: How to Avoid the Information Overload

Posted by kirilesko On November - 22 - 2008 Comments Off
Daryl Campbell asked:

According to a study by Jupiter Research the online dating market in the US will grow to $932 million annually by 2011. This is good news because it means their will be more online dating partners to choose from.

The downside is information overload. Too many choices can lead many people not to take action. While you do not want to be choosy to the point that no one fits the bill, you should have in place some filters to make the process a little bit easier.

1. Ask informative questions

This can be a long process but it is absolutely necessary. In the offline world it’s a little bit easier to size the person up and decide if you want to make a go of it. Not so with online dating. You have to keep probing just to make sure it’s is okay to even meet with this person for the first time. Don’t be afraid to ask the questions that need asking. Find out about their hobbies, goals, educational background as well as other interests. Make sure what they say matches their profile and even then try to investigate further. This is not only for your safety (being anonymous is both a blessing and a curse in the online world) but to see if there is a connection that the two of you can build on.

2. Attraction

When you see someone’s profile do you think nice, no thanks or maybe? You should be able to answer that one quickly. Yes you want to get to know a person beyond their photo but let’s face it; right now that and the profile are all you’ve got to go on. Attraction is one of the main ingredients to building a dating relationship. If it’s not there then don’t waste your time. There are too many other choices out there waiting for you.

3. Personalize

With the overwhelming number of potential dating partners it’s easy to develop a standard response. When you see someone you are interested in try to personalize your messages. You don’t know the person so be respectful but let them know there was something in their profile or photo that caught your eye; the less obvious the better. Showing keen observation is a plus. A good sense of humor in your correspondence doesn’t hurt either.

4. The Best Policy

If a potential dating partner tells you they are a world class pilot but what they really mean is they work the baggage terminal at the local airport you would rightly be angry. So be honest with the person you are interested in. A little exaggeration here and there may jazz up the profile but it is no way to start or build a dating relationship. Lying to the other person is bad enough but it also shows a lack of trust in yourself; not believing that what you bring to the table is just as good as what the other person has to offer. Wrong. Honesty is not only essential but very attractive.

Online dating is a numbers game and it can be overwhelming. But when it works it’s as good as anything offline. Utilize the tips above and take advantage of this growing phenomenon to find that special someone in your life.

Winning Online Poker Tourneys Is Not Like A Normal Poker Tournament

Posted by kirilesko On November - 20 - 2008 Comments Off
Imteaz Ahmed asked:

If you take all of the offline poker tournaments that happen in a year and add them together, some people have estimated that they would not equal the number of online poker tourneys that are played on Poker Stars, a single online website. While online tournaments can be very fun, they also have a very different flow than their offline counterparts and with this different flow comes a much different strategy. Here are some tips to keep in mind when playing in online tournaments.

Aggression

One of the biggest differences between a typical offline poker tournament and online poker tourneys is the fact that aggression is ramped up to almost ridiculous levels in online tournaments. People are aggressive to the point of being past what some would consider having normal survival instincts and because of that people tend to get themselves in trouble through aggression more often than not in online tournaments. As a famous poker announcer once quipped, people in online tournaments are great at accumulating chips but not so good at keeping them once they have them.

How do you put this to your advantage? Simple! You sit back and wait for very good hands and then when you get those big hands you push them with everything you have. This is a strategy that can be thought of as your normal strong-tight strategy on steroids because you are waiting for tighter hands and you are being more aggressive than you normally would be. You might be worried that your behavior will be plain to all at the table but you might actually be quite surprised at how little ultra aggressive players know about the people they are playing with. At least at the start of online poker tourneys you will get calls for your all-in moves regardless of what your table image happens to be.

Cost

When you play an offline poker tournament, what you are doing is actually sitting down at the table with a bunch of other people and putting down serious money in order to play a game of poker. Because the cost of the tournament is so much higher in the real world, you have a much higher connection to the buy-in you just made. You will do a lot more to protect that buy-in and so will the people you are playing.

In the online world however, things are completely different. The online Poker Tournaments of the world can sometimes have buy-ins that are less than a dollar and this is of course because of how cheap it is to run online poker tournaments. The cheapness of the tournament comes into it big time and feeds into the aggression, making the naturally more aggressive online player even more aggressive than they would normally be. Just one more reason to abandon your normal poker tournament strategy and play super tight and super strong in Online Poker Tourneys.

Bruce Online asked:

Recent survey numbers highlight how Internet traffic is growing exponentially and is poised for a 600% increase by 2012. The huge increase in Internet traffic comes at a time when the convergence of mobile search technologies and local search capabilities will drive the growth of online marketing, local search and mobile search to similar heights - while driving foot traffic to businesses large and small that have a “digital footprint” in today’s surging digital economy.

Staggering numbers from worldwide networking leader Cisco Systems predict a six-fold increase in global traffic on the Internet, highlighting the increasingly important role online marketing and internet advertising will play for businesses large and small as consumers increasingly move online to do both shopping and “Windows shopping”. Cisco released its Visual Networking Index (VNI) Forecast for 2007-2012 on June 16th, which predicts that we will see a 600% increase in Internet traffic by 2012. Cisco’s VNI projections predicts that Internet traffic will double roughly every two years as a result of “a combined annual growth rate of 46 p[er cent form 2007 to 2012.

The key component in this surge of Internet traffic will be video streaming. Cisco predicts that by 2012, “video traffic alone will be 400 times the traffic carried over the U.S. portion of the Internet in 2000. Increasingly, marketing agencies and advertisers are moving off traditional media and moving online to exploit the consumer movement to the Internet. Significantly, much of this consumer movement online will result from the increasing tendency of consumers to access the Internet from handheld mobile devices - a trend that will only increase as RIM, Nokia and other cellular phone and mobile device manufacturers move to keep pace with Apple that just recently released its next-generation 3G iPhone.

Cisco is predicting that mobile data will roughly double each year from 2008 to 2012, highlighting the importance that mobile search will play in an emerging digital economy. Jupiter Research, a leader in online research analysis, has projected that annual revenue from mobile search revenues are expected to hit $US4.8 billion dollars annually by 2013.

As technologies converge, the driver behind these anticipated huge jumps in online advertising and mobile search numbers is - not surprisingly for those who have been tracking the emerging technologies of Web 2.0 - local search. Jupiter predicts that in the emerging digital economy, local search will be the most popular service amongst all advertisers and will attract 40% of all mobile search ad spending between 2008 and 2013.

The convergence of technologies that is fostering the growth in mobile search, and particularly local search, was illustrated by Google CEO, Eric Schmidt. Sitting down for a much-publicized interview with CNBC’s Maria Bartiromo earlier this spring, the head of the search engine giant touted how improvements in mobile search capabilities on advanced mobile handhelds (such as the BlackBerry or Apple’s iPhone) combined with advances in Google Maps and Google’s local search capabilities are making real time, and precise geopraphic local search a reality.

“(W)henever I fly somewhere,” Schmidt told CNBC, “I open up … my iPhone or my BlackBerry, and, boom, there’s everything in my world as I’ve landed in a country I’ve never been in. It’s a remarkable achievement.” Schmidt notes that Google has been tracking the huge increase in use of Google Maps local search technology. “(T)here’s been a huge increase in maps, Google Maps, hugely successful,” Dr. Schmidt reports. “(W)hen I want to go to the equivalent of a Starbucks, I just type “Starbucks,” it says it’s over there. For me, that’s just a huge–a huge improvement. And that service is available almost everywhere in the world.”

What is common practice for Google’s high-flying and technologically enriched CEO is increasingly becoming commonplace for the digital consumer on the street. The predicted growth in internet traffic, together with the radical shift of advertising dollars to online marketing and the growing tendency of Internet-savvy consumers to take up mobile search, clearly forecast where commerce and e-commerce is headed. While there may still be local niche markets that depend on foot traffic to drive their business, increasingly it is a company’s digital footprint that drives customer traffic to its online site or storefront. And the vehicle driving that electronic traffic is mobile search. As online traffic balloons between now and 2012, the importance on local search, mobile search and online marketing will also balloon.

Are Teens Ready for Online Dating?

Posted by kirilesko On November - 2 - 2008 Comments Off
Sushil Kumar Singh Raghav asked:

The advent of modern technology makes it possible for people to interact with each other whether they’re a foot, a yard or a hundred thousand miles apart. At this point, modern technology makes a lot of things possible.

Take for example, the prospect of finding someone beyond the confines of your own city, or state. At first, it seems logical that a person ends up with someone from the same area, knowing that they get to see each other and that’s usually the only way to communicate.

However, with the emergence of mobile phones and internet, society has changed. In fact, the prospect of finding a special someone has become bigger, thanks to the power of the internet.

Lately, online dating has become a new thing in the online world. It is because for someone who years for love and companionship, the internet opened a vista of possibilities in looking for the right guy, or girl.

Dating sites were put up where one can create and post a profile for the whole world to see. Interested individuals can just leave a message, contact number or an email address so that the correspondence begins. It seems normal that adults would do this sort of thing.

But wait a minute, if “teen dating” is typed in popular search engines, a lot of websites offering that kind of services pops out. This could only mean one thing. Teens are now into online dating.

Teens want to meet someone special. It is a given but it is also helpful to know the pros and cons of getting this kind of relationship. After all, it pays to weigh things over.

Online dating has a number of advantages. One of that is convenience. It only takes a click of a mouse and pressing of the buttons to communicate with a lot of people all over the world, even within the local area. Teens get to see who they are going with beforehand because they get to see the person’s image through the internet. Second, through chatting and constant correspondence, teens will get a general idea who they are communicating with. The compatibility can be determined without even physically seeing each other but all the same, even if things don’t work out, the camaraderie has been established.

Of course, there is a down side to this kind of communiqué. Teens should be careful on who they are communicating with because at this day and age it is easy to disguise oneself especially through the internet. Since the person is far away, there’s a tendency to lie about certain intimate things. In the end, teens may end up not really knowing the person on the other end of the computer.

In the end, it is always up to the better judgment of teens on whether they want to elevate this communication into something serious. In fact, it is advisable to bring someone, like a good friend when meeting the online correspondent. If the person has nothing to hide, then it will not be a bother.
